Wheatfield Women finish in Style

The Wheatfield Blades Sr. Women's team finished out the season undefeated in their last 15 games during the final three tournaments of the season.

The Blades Women went 4-0 in their State Tournament, defeating all comers from different parts of the state. They outscored their opponents 32-5 during the 4 game tournament. Moving on into the Nationals, not only being the host, but the #1 seed from New York, the Blades continued their winning ways throughout the National tournament. Defeating teams from Michigan, Minnesota, California, and Florida, the Blades posted a 6-0 record, with goaltender Vicky Topper having two shutouts, and goaltender Mandy Young contributing a third shutout over the weekend.

Wheatfield also boasted having 4 of the top 6 scorers in the tournament (Meghan Herald, Kori Ortt, Stephanie Topper, and Erin Whitford), as well as the top two goaltenders in the tournament. Goaltender Vicky Topper competed in the skills competition for the Blades placing first overall in the goaltender category, while Meghan Herald placed second in the nation in the skater category.

Finally, this past weekend, the Blades participated in the Brampton Canadettes World's largest Girl's/Women's Tournament, and placed first in the Sr. Open division, completing an historic season. The winning of the State and Bramtpon Tournaments follows last year's second place finishes in both competitions.

The Women's team would like to thank the Blades Association for all their help in developing the Women's program over the last two years, and are proud to see the development of a Women's B team for the 2006-2007 season. Wheatfield Blades Women's "C" win National Championship

Wheatfield Blades Women's Team won Nationals by a score of 1-0 over Tampa Bay Elite on March 26th at the Pepsi Center, they went 6-0 in the tournament.

Wheatfield Blades Women's 'C" win State Championship -

The Wheatfield Blades Women's team returned from Rochester this weekend with a first for Wheatfield, a Women's State Championship. The team outscored their opponents 32-5 over the 4 game tournament, finishing it off with a 6-1 victory over last year's champions the Rochester Diablos.

All players on the team made contributions over the weekend, with both Vicky Topper ad Mandy Young holding tight between the pipes. The Blades advance to the USA Hockey Women's Championships at the Amherst Pepsi Center, March 24-26. All are welcome to come cheer on the Blades.

Wheatfield's Pee Wee Major AAA Team Advances to States: Pete Scamurra's Pee Wee Major team finished 2nd in the Western Regions Play downs to advance to the State Tournament that is being held in Albany NY, March 10 - 12, 2006. The Pee Wee Majors went 4-1-1 at the play downs to finish 2nd and secure a spot in the State Tournament. Wheatfield Blades Squirt Major advances to State Tournament - Craig Morrish's Squirt Major team ended up as the fourth seed to advance to the New York State Tournament 3/10 - 3/12 in West Seneca, NY. In divisional play the Blades went 2 - 0 - 1 with wins over Perinton and Amherst and a tie verses Rochester to secure a place in States and cross over play. The Blades now battle the top eight teams in that state starting March 10 @ 4:00 in West Seneca, NY.
