After Novice

Most of our parents in this program are new to the "hockey thing" and wonder what is next for my child. Well, let us see if we can answer some of those questions below:

What is the next step for my child?

Is my child ready to go to the next level and what is the next level all about?

The move up to the next level is soley your decision. It is up to you but we can recommend the next path. If you have any questions about your child's ability or if they are ready please see your coach at the end of the novice session. You are very welcome to continue in our Novice program next year or move up into the House League. The House League is the next step in your recreation path for your child. The House League is every Saturday and Sunday from October to March. It consists of a Saturday practice and Sunday games. The age brackets are set up for 8 and under (Mites), 9 and 10 (Squirts), both of these age brackets do not check. The 11 and 12 year olds (Pee Wee) and 13 and to 15 (Bantams) are the progression. Everyone in the House League receives equal ice time during the games. If your child excels, The Wheatfield Blades offer the Travel side of our organization. This is a very competitive, highly skilled league for your children.

What is The Wheatfield Blades all about?

The Wheatfield Blades is the 2nd largest youth hockey organization in New York State. It is run by a Board of Directors that is all volunteers. The organization has 20 house league teams in various age brackets, there are 12 travel teams and 3 Novice groups. We do offer girls only teams in various age brackets too. We can provide children the opportunity to play hockey from very young to 20 years old.

The organization is always looking for volunteers to help with the many activities that make this organization work. If you are interested in helping in any capacity, please see one of the Board Members.
