Our Novice Program

What is the Novice Program?   

The Novice Program is an instructional learn to skate program. The main area of focus will be skill development, team work, and sportsmanship.  In the area of skill development, we will be putting a strong emphasis on skating.

What is the age of the skaters?

The age of the skaters are between 3-8 years old.  Accommodations can be made for children slightly younger or slightly older.

What day of the week does the session run?

The session runs on either Saturdays or Sundays.  You choose which day you want and you attend every week on that day. If you did not choose a day, a day will be assigned to you based on availability.

When does the session start?

The sessions begin September 30th & October 1st (depending if you picked Saturday or Sunday) and run for approximately 22 weeks.

How long is the session?

Each of the sessions run for 1 hour.

What equipment do they need?

Full hockey equipment is required.  Click here for a copy of the list of equipment.  Please note that each child will receive a Jersey as part of the cost for this program. 

Can I go on the ice with my child?

A limited number of parent helpers are allowed on the ice.  The Novice Director will decide who that will be.  Once they are chosen they must be registered with USA hockey for a $33.00 charge.  Also new this year, hockey helmets must be worn by everyone on the ice, including helpers.

Can I have The child's  name and a number put on the jersey?

Yes, for $10.00 you can drop the jersey off at the pro shop after a novice session and they will put any name and any number on the jersey that you want.  You can pick up the jersey before your next novice session.

Recent News

Once again, Wheatfield Blades are proud to announce our Summer Novice program at the Hockey Outlet.  The dates and times are below.  This year’s cost will be $100.00 which will include 13 – 1 hour ice times and a jersey.

The program runs on Sunday mornings at 8:50am.

The dates are:

              April 27

              May 4, 18

              June 1, 8, 22, 29

              July 13, 20

              August 3, 17

              September 7, 14

Please complete the summer registration form and bring it with you on the first day of registration.  All skaters welcome.
